Nebraska Public Service Commission/Motor Carrier Division regulates Nebraska’s Intrastate household goods moving.
Nebraska Rules and Regulations
The Nebraska Public Service Commission regulates household movers. Movers do need to have an operating authority through the Nebraska Public Service Commission. The mover must publish their tariff with Nebraska Public Service Commission. This tariff outlines all of the services and charges for the movers, and the NPSC holds all movers in the state of Nebraska responsible for following by their published rates, policies and procedures as set forth by the commission.
Local/Intrastate/Point to Point Moving companies are required to have an M# on their truck, and have PSC plates. There are no regulations on how a mover charges as long as it is published in their tariff.
One important thing to remember is that you make sure your local mover carries workers compensation insurance and the proper licensing on equipment and vehicles.
