Ohio Moving Rules and Regulations
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio regulates household movers. The mover must file their tariff with the Commission. This tariff outlines all of the services and charges for the movers, and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio holds all movers in the state of Ohio responsible for following their published rates, policies, and procedures as set forth by the Commission.
Local movers are required to display their PUCO certificate # on their vehicles, and include it on their Estimates and Bill of Ladings forms, to do local moves. Local moves are charged hourly or by weight and distance depending on what is published in the movers’ tariff.
One important thing to remember is that you make sure your local mover carries workers compensation insurance and displays the PUCO certificate number on their vehicles.
