Texas Moving Rules and Regulations
The Department of Motor Vehicles regulates household goods movers. Moving companies may participate in a collective tariff, and/or file their own tariff. the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles holds all movers responsible for following by their tariff, policies and procedures.
In the state of Texas, shipments are considered local if they are within a county, between 2 counties, or within one city. Movers’ charges are subject to follow by their tariffs, which are lawfully on file with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. The moving company is required to have TXDMV# on Bills of Ladings, proposals, advertisements and vehicles (unless out of commission).
One important thing to remember is that you make sure your local mover carries workers compensation insurance and/or Accidental Insurance Coverage and the proper licensing on equipment and vehicles.
